Cheongsam - Qipao

The cheongsam, a distinctive garment associated with Chinese women, becomes in this work a symbol of the artist herself.

 

Within its translucent glass body, mountain forms are subtly embedded, while the deep blue tone evokes water. Together, mountain and water — shanshui — form one of the essential spiritual symbols of Chinese culture.

 

By merging the cheongsam with the imagery of landscape, the work connects personal identity with the tradition of Chinese literati painting, where nature becomes a place of emotion, retreat, and inner release.
