Vessel of Peace
Artist: Liyue Zhu
In many interiors, a vase is more than a decorative object. It carries a quiet sense of peace, balance, and well-being.
In this work, the form of a traditional vase is not presented as a solid object, but as a negative space within the glass. Surrounded by mist-like air bubbles, the hidden vessel appears and disappears, creating a subtle, almost dreamlike visual experience.
The piece is made through a complex lost-wax kiln-casting process. During its making, natural traces of the material are intentionally preserved. Air bubbles are not treated as imperfections, but as part of the composition. They create atmosphere, depth, and movement, revealing the beauty and unpredictability of glass itself.
The title Vessel of Peace refers to the symbolic meaning of peace, harmony, and quiet blessing.
