Besieged City

In this series, Ms Liyue Zhu uses the angled reflections, refractions, and penetrations of glass to create mutual projections between the figures.
Between illusion and reality, separation and reunion, the figures appear at first to be many individuals, while in fact there are only a few. Some seem to be entering, some seem to be leaving, while others, caught in hesitation, appear to split into multiple selves.
Estrangement, ambiguity, and mutual reflection — only the language of glass can interpret such a complex and indistinct state.
This work fundamentally departs from a decorative and purely aesthetic understanding of glass art. Instead, it offers a profound interpretation of the artist’s understanding of life and the world, moving from craft-based technical beauty toward a conceptual exploration of the inner self.
